Trois Ans

I remember it like it was yesterday, so it's hard to believe it's already been three years.

One of the most difficult things about getting married was finding a dress in Paris after only living here for a month. And I didn't want a typical white wedding dress that I would never wear again. 

One day we stumbled across a boutique with a dress design I liked, so he made my dress and his partner ended up doing David's suit. My wedding dress was perfect for a January wedding in France. The top is actually a jacket, so once I was inside and dancing, I could take it off.

  1. This is exactly where I am right now with the wedding planning....the DRESS!!! AHHHH! Like you, I don't want to the big white poof so most bridal shops are useless to me.

    I may have to go the route you went and just have my ideal dress made. : )

    1. When I put it on the day of the wedding I was nervous because it was a little over the top and this was the first time I was going to meet a lot of the people in David's huge family. But it's your day. Go extra extra coquina. You won't regret it.

      I think a dress from any of the ateliers would have worked right off the rack, but at that point I was stressed out and couldn't look anymore. If he had any other colors other than red or blue or black, I would have taken one of those. But it wasn't much more expensive to get it made, and the fabric in my dress was the same as the fabric lining David's suit and the main color of his vest, so I think it was worth it.

      The guy who made it surprised me fingerless gloves (it was freezing that January) that my nephew and step-dad died laughing when they saw them and dubbed them my "Michael Jackson gloves". Needless to say I did not wear them and it did not help with my doubts that my dress was stupid. Ahhhh family. Gotta love them.
